Musk live-streams Grimes ‘Sonicmania’ set in Japan
Visiting Japan for the first time since 2014, Musk shares a poster of the all-night “Sonicmania” music festival and then live-streams it on his X account. (The poster features his ex-girlfriend, Grimes.) Stars like American DJ and rapper Flying Lotus, UK singer and rappers James Blake, Shygirl and Slowthai, The Stickmen Project, Thundercat, and Zutomayo are expected to perform at Sonicmania.

Grimes takes credit for Musk’s ‘dick measuring’ tweet
Grimes takes credit for Musk’s “dick measuring” challenge to Zuckerberg. In July 2023, after calling Zuckerberg a “cuck” in a Twitter post, Musk challenged him to “a literal dick measuring contest.” Grimes says that while she did not exactly tell Musk to write the tweet, she gave him the idea for it, but she “didn’t think he was going to tweet it.”
I’m going to take credit for that one…I was like, why don’t you cut to the chase and get out a ruler. I didn’t think he was going to tweet it.
Musk thinks Grimes is a ‘simulation’
Journalist Devin Gordon says that Grimes told him that Musk believed that she was his “perfect companion” but not “real”.
She [Grimes] told me repeatedly that Musk has this theory of her that she’s not real. That she’s a simulation who was created by him and exists in his cerebral cortex as sort of the perfect companion to him. Which sounds a little crazy and maybe even a little creepy, except, she agrees with it. She said she does feel like this simulation which was perfectly created for him. Her interests are all the same as his and her music is very technologically oriented, [and they also] both made a similar nerdy joke about a scary AI theory of the future.
In March 2022, Grimes said:
We keep having this conversation where E’s like, ‘Are you real? Or are we living in my memory, and you’re like a synthesised companion that was created to be my companion here?’. The degree to which I feel engineered to have been this, like, perfect companion is crazy.”
Musk posts photo with Grimes: ‘No way to prove we’re living in a simulation’
Musk posts a picture of himself with former girlfriend Grimes, in costumes they donned for a Saturday Night Live episode in May 2021. Musk contrasts the picture with one of animated Mario and Princess Peach sitting at the edge of a castle roof, with the caption:
Of course, there’s no way to prove we’re living in a simulation
Musk has talked about the possibility of humans living inside a simulation previously, on The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast in 2018, and in November 2021. The simulation hypothesis is promoted by scientists. including astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.
