Harley Race is a retired American professional wrestler born in 1943 in Quitman, Missouri. Race competed in the American Wrestling Association(AWA), National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), World Wrestling Federation (WWF), and World Championship Wrestling (WCW) during his career. Race won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship eight times, the NWA United States Championship, the NWA Missouri Heavyweight Championship, and the AWA World Tag Team Championship. Race is also a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, WCW Hall of Fame, Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame, and the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. Race has two children and was married to B.J. Race until her death in 2009.

Race talks to WGD Weekly about Hulk Hogan and his last conversation with Owen Hart before his death.

In confronting the Hulkster, he was the type of guy, that he was being paid to do what he did, and that is how he looked at it. He didn’t look at it as though he was running roughshod over everyone else out there. I confronted him about all that garbage. There was no push come to shove or anything.

The second King of the Ring tournament is held. Harley Race overcomes Roddy Piper, Don Muraco, Paul Orndoff and Pedro Morales to claim the crown. Race comments.

 In the tournament itself, I had to advance four times. Getting by Morales at the end was something special. He had been World Wrestling Federation Champion. He was the guy who I really wanted to face to make the King of the Ring mean something. I think overall, it did real well.
