Ford became popular for his roles in movies such as the Star Wars trilogy, the Indiana Jones movie series, Blade Runner, Witness, Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Games, Apocalypse Now, and Air Force One. Accolades he has attained in his career include an AFI Life Achievement Award, a MTV Movie Award, two People’s Choice Awards, and a Golden Globe Award. Ford is married to actress Calista Flockhart and has five children.

Ford discusses his career and his latest role as Brooklyn Dodgers GM Branch Rickey in the Jackie Robinson biography, 42, in this interview for PBS. On Rickey’s decision to integrate the team:

Well, I think he had a combination of motives. He was a very religious man, devout Methodist, and I think he had a number of motivations besides the ethical and moral feelings that he had, and I’m not so sure it had a lot to do with race, because he grew up in a context where there was race prejudice.
