Wins entertainment award
Disney’s Toy Story Mania attraction wins an award from the Themed Entertainment Association for Outstanding Achievement for an Attraction. The ride appears in both California Adventure and Hollywood Studios. This is the 34th TEA award for Disney overall and the ninth award for Disney in the attraction category.
In case you haven’t had a chance to experience the attraction, it’s a high-energy, immersive, ride-through adventure that lets you test your skills at a variety of carnival midway games hosted by the characters from the Disney·Pixar Toy Story films.
TEA praised the attraction as “a suite of many technical and creative innovations.
Debuts R2-MK character
In honor of the Star Wars Weekends events at Hollywood Studios, Disney announces a new character: a droid named R2-MK. R2-MK is the same class of droid as R2-D2, but he has red details and wears a Mickey Mouse hat. R2-MK appears for meet and greets during Star Wars Weekends, and he serves as the model for merchandise such as toys and figurines.
This spring you can find Jedi Mickey’s own droid, R2-MK, exclusively at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.
Hollywood Studios statue removed
A bronze bust of Cosby that has been in the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame Plaza at Hollywood Studios since 1994 is removed. Traitz started a Change.org petition seven months ago to have the statue removed from Disney. Her niece:
