I think it’s really a brilliant love story about a man searching for the fountain of youth. It’s exciting. But there’s layers and layers, and layers behind this movie.

O Magazine Interview

Interview0 Comments

Jackman talks about getting a role in the musical The Boy From Oz early in his acting career:

I’d been offered the part in Australia six years earlier. I decided not to take it because I’d done two other musicals, and I felt like I was getting typecast. That’s a tough road to get out of. Musical theater is looked down on by people in every other form of entertainment.

O Magazine interview

Interview0 Comments

Jackman gives an interview to Winfrey for O Magazine about career lessons he learns from his dad.

I had a fairly enlightened dad, though if you looked at his résumé, it might not seem that way. He was a chartered accountant for Price Waterhouse. He was strict, and we had a very ordered life. To this day, I am the least materialistic person I know, because my father didn’t raise me to just go out and buy this or that car. The only reason I wanted to make money as an actor was because I’m passionate about food! But as disciplined as my father was with money, he would never try to save a dime on education. He loved being an accountant. He’d tell me, You’ve got to love what you do because it’s going to take a lot of your effort and time. He had only one reservation about my being an actor. He said, I think you’re too thin-skinned. And I am fairly thin-skinned.

Wins Tony

Jackman wins Tony Award for Best Actor (Musical) for portraying Peter Allen in The Boy from Oz at the 58th Annual Tony Awards.  Jackman spoke backstage about winning the award in the same venue where Allen performed.

Peter at the time was the biggest selling artist ever to play Radio City Music Hall and I had his dressing room. The whole thing was kind of spooky. To receive the award in Radio City was a fantastic twist of fate. I feel his spirit in the theatre eight times a week, but I definitely know he was there tonight.

There he meets Kate, a successful business woman, who not only helps familiarize the baron to the new world, but also steals his heart. Co-starring Meg Ryan and Live Schreiber.

I think the film is… you know, it’s a fairy tale. It’s highlighting some of the things we’ve lost, and some of them for good reason.

Jackman plays Wolverine in Marvel Comics’ X-Men. I group of individuals with unique abilities called ‘mutants’ are persecuted by humans and are considered outsiders. A mutant by the name of professor Xavier strives for a world where humans and mutants can live together peacefully, while his old friend wages war against humans. Co-starring Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Famke Janssen, James Marsdan, and Halle Berry.

All the opportunities pretty much I’ve had in Hollywood I can actually trace back to this character and this franchise, so I’m forever grateful.
