Seacrest interviews Martinez during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about his experiance on Dancing With The Stars while being disfigured.

Not only a fun opportunity and a challenge, physically and mentally, but I looked at it as an opportunity for me, to reach so many people and to educate people on true beauty, to educate people on disfigurement, to educate people on our troops and their families and our service members. So, for me it was like a no brainer. There is a reason why I am this cute!

jr-martinezMartinez appears on the cover of People to discuss surviving an explosion as a teenage solider and how he captured the hearts of millions on Dancing with the Stars.

I could see my hands, my skin drastically changing before me in a way you would only see in a horror movie. I could see guys running around, a lot of chaos. I was screaming for someone to pull me out. At 19 years old, every dream, every goal, was gone. I felt my life was going to end right there.

Seacrest interviews Martinez during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about his role in Voters in America: Vets Wanted documentary.

As a proud veteran, I am always honored to have an opportunity to help my brothers and sisters in the Armed Forces. CNN’s documentary, Voters in America: Vets Wanted? highlights the extraordinary perseverance, skills, strength and character that our veterans have to offer employers as they return to America and re-enter civilian life. Transitioning to civilian life can come with a lot of challenges – I certainly have lived some, but I hope through this documentary to do what I aim to do every day: to try to inspire other vets to do what we do best: always remember why we never give up and why we do what we do – for our love of country and family.
