Seacrest interviews Gyllenhaal during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about his charterer Lou Bloom in the film Night Crawler.
He’s a very hungry character. He’s really ambitious, and he’s also, I mean, just literally hungry. We were talking about how these guys who do the work he does, which is basically go to crime scenes and accident scenes, and try to get footage to sell to the local news. These guys are kind of scavengers, they’re hunters, and kind of in the animal kingdom, they’re like the coyotes. The director and I decided that he should kind of look like a coyote cause they’re all over Southern California.
Gyllenhaal appears on the cover of the Fall/Winter issue of V-man. Inside the magazine he talks about the method he uses for acting.
Maybe some people can be fooled but I’m not interested in that. I think it’s possible to be intimate in your work. It means asking questions of yourself, it demands trust.
Gyllenhaal gives interview to Elle about how he got Ann Hathaway to act in Love and Other Drugs.
I lured her to do the movie by telling her that [Brokeback] wasn’t our love story, this one should be. We’re going to learn the hard, dirty, rough parts of ourselves and share them at the same time.
Gyllenhaal and Arterton appear on the cover of the May 2010 issue of Cinema Germany magazine.
Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal split after two years of dating. Sources say that Gyllenhaal was ready to get married but Witherspoon wasn’t quite ready to make that step.
I had a certain idea what I thought marriage gives, but sometimes it doesn’t work out that way.
Asked if she would ever marry again:
I don’t know. I don’t think about it much.
