James Tillis is a former professional boxer born in 1957 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. During his career, his nickname was Quick. Tillis won four state AAU championships and three state Golden Gloves titles in his amateur career. He turned pro in 1978 and won his first fight with a knockout of Ron Stephany in the first round. Notable opponents Tillis had in his career were Mike Tyson, Greg Page, Tim WitherspoonCarl Williams, and Tommy Morrison. He retired in 2001 with a record of 42 wins and 22 losses.
