She’s Country

Single Release0 Comments

The artist releases She’s Country, from his album, Wide Open.

Because of how fast the words are, it’s like rapid fire singing. I didn’t know if I could get all the words out. I’m from Georgia and we talk slow down there! The more I listened to it in my car and started singing along with it, then I found the places I could breathe, so I knew I could sing it all the way through. Once that happened, we went in and cut it, and we thought we had something really cool in the studio… but you never know until you put it out there.

My Kinda Party

Single Release0 Comments

The artist releases My Kinda Party, from his album with the same name.

I think the song is that exact song; it is the song that we always look for to launch an album. For us, we want to come out and push the envelope with that first single and get everybody’s attention. It’s like, OK, we’re coming out with a new album and here’s the first single. I think it stands up to the others. Brantley [Gilbert, the song’s writer] actually pitched the song for the last album and we just got it late in the game. At the end of recording every album, we have a handful of songs that we love, and ‘My Kinda Party’ was one of those. We knew if it was around when we cut again we would record it. It’s loud, it’s obnoxious and will get some attention, and that’s what we try to do on this record and with the other albums.

Dirt Road Anthem

Single Release0 Comments

The artist releases Dirt Road Anthem, from his album, My Kinda Party.

It’s different, no doubt. But it still talks about that same sort of rural thing as Amarillo Sky. It just does it in a different way. ( laughs). Being from Georgia, I thought I’d be pretty bad at talking fast. But apparently I’m pretty good at it.

Tattoos On This Town

Single Release0 Comments

The artist releases Tattoos On This Town, from My Kinda Party. When asked if he sees himself in the song’s narrative, Aldean replies:

A little bit, yeah. When I was in high school, the night before we graduated, we all met up at our school at midnight and spray-painted our names all over the parking lot. So when all the teachers came back the next day, they had something to remember us by. It was pretty cool. It was like big names, you know? That was what I thought about when I heard that song.

Fly Over States

Single Release0 Comments

The artist releases Fly Over States, from his album, My Kinda Party.

I grew up in Georgia, on the outskirts of Macon, surrounded by a lot of farmland. That’s what I know. For any artist, if you can sing about things you’ve experienced, then you can convey that message to your fans.
(For instance) that song Fly Over States – I heard those kinds of comments when I was flying out to promote my music. I’d hear businessmen from one of the coasts comment as we flew over some small town, ‘I wonder why anyone would want to live there?’

Take a Little Ride

Single Release0 Comments

The artist releases his single, Take A Little Ride, from his album, Night Train.

It came in on the last album, but we had all our tempos. I liked it, but we weren’t looking for that type of song at that time. It was one of those songs that just kept hangin’ around, and I was still listening to it two years later, still diggin’ it. At that point it was time to put it on a record.
