The fans got to help me write the song. I started writing the song, but I left a bunch of lines blank and the fans have been helping me fill in the lines. The song is now completed, so it’s a collaboration between Coca-Cola, American Idol, the fans, and myself.

The neck brace definitely has some sentimental value and it means so much. He [the French jeweler] took this ugly medical brace and made it into something spectacular.
Recovery
Derulo is released from the hospital and ordered to wear a neck brace for several months. He is forced to cancel all of his upcoming shows and promotional appearances.
To all my fans who planned to come to the Future History World tour, the pain of letting you down cuts me way deeper than this injury I’ve sustained. My fans mean everything to me, so I’m praying for a speedy recovery in order to perform for you in the near future.
Sparks was there every step of the way. Sparks was very instrumental in my recovery. The simplest things that we take for granted, like tying my shoes or putting on a shirt, she was right there for me, he said. That situation brought us very close because I think it takes a very special person to drop everything they’ve got going on in their life, especially someone of her caliber, to come and aide me. Neck injury

Derulo fractures his neck during rehearsals for his upcoming European tour. He tries to execute a move during rehearsal when he lands directly on his head and suffers an acute fracture of his vertebra. Derulo is rushed to Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines, Fla., where doctors tell him the accident could have left him paralyzed if his injury had been any more severe. Derulo:
