A 17-year-old suspect faces charges in the murder and sexual assault of Wright. A positive confirmation of the suspect is made and police arrest him at his home. The suspect lives in the same trailer park as the victim.
Authorities announce the discovery of Wright’s body about 100 feet from the trailer park she lived in. Residents who live in that area provide samples voluntarily. Kitsap County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Wilson:
The manner of death is homicide, the cause of death is not being released.
Six-year-old Wright goes missing after leaving her home Saturday evening. The family calls the police the following night. They say she wanders around the neighborhood and they felt it was safe. Child welfare workers remove the other children from the home. Wright’s parents take a lie detector test, but results are not made known. Kitsap County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Wilson on having the help of the FBI in the search:
We are harnessing all this manpower and expertise because we are covering all the bases. We only get one chance to do this right the first time.
