Endorses Trump
In an interview with Breitbart News, Voight says he endorses Trump for president.
I, Jon Voight, can say, without hesitation, that Donald is funny, playful, and colorful, but most of all, he is honest. When he decided to run for president, I know he did it with a true conviction to bring this country back to prosperity. He is the only one who can do it. No frills, no fuss, only candid truths. There are many Republicans fighting to keep him from winning the Republican nomination. You know why? Because he has no bull to sell, and everyone will discover the bull most politicians spew out is for their own causes and benefits. They never dreamed they would be losing control.
I am very disappointed at the talk show hosts, also spewing out lies and propaganda against Donald. Why, I wonder? The only thing I can think of is he represents a form of freedom none of them ever saw before, and they are bewildered about it, and frightened about it. I pray all Americans who have seen and felt the meltdown of America with the Obama years, to please fight for Donald Trump. He will not let us down. I pray for all good people to see clearly what faces us now. The right vote will save our nation.

Denounces ‘ignorant’ Bardem, Cruz
Voight denounces the open letter signed by Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz and others as ignorant and inciting anti-Semitism:
You have forgotten how this war started. Did Hamas not kidnap and kill three young teenagers for the sake of killing, and celebrated after the killing? What a travesty of justice. I am asking all my peers who signed that poison letter against Israel to examine their motives. Can you take back the fire of anti-Semitism that is raging all over the world now?
He says they are unaware of the genesis of the conflict:
They are obviously ignorant of the whole story of Israel’s birth, when in 1948 the Jewish people were offered by the UN a portion of the land originally set aside for them in 1921, and the Arab Palestinians were offered the other half. The Arabs rejected the offer, and the Jews accepted, only to be attacked by five surrounding Arab countries committed to driving them into the sea. But the Israelis won. The Arabs tried it again in 1967, and again in 1973, launching a sneak attack on the holiest Jewish holiday. Each time the Jews prevailed but not without great loss of life. And when Israel was not fighting a major war, it was defending itself against terrorist campaigns.
On more recent history:
And yet Israel has always labored for a peaceful relation with its Arab neighbors. It voluntarily returned the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt in return for peace, and gave the Palestinians all of Gaza as a peace gesture. What was the response? The Palestinians elected Hamas, a terrorist organization, and they immediately began firing thousands of rockets into Israel.
Emmy nomination
Voight is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards for portraying Mickey Donovan on Ray Donovan.
It’s a very prestigious nomination and I’m very grateful for it. Last night, I watched the first episode of the new season and I’m reminded of the good work from everyone — the writing, the cast. I’m so happy the show will be represented at the Emmys this year. I’m proud to be a part of this group.
Maxim Interview
Voight speaks about what drew him to the role of Van Helsing in the movie Dracula: The Dark Prince:
I thought it had a nice story to it, that there was something in it that was on the positive side of things. And I thought this character that they wanted me to do was sketched in. I thought maybe I could bring something to it. So that’s why I did it.
Tells daughter to seek mental help
Voight announces publicly that he thinks Jolie should seek help for her serious mental problems after learning she adopted a son from Cambodia. Jolie insists that she is fine and doesn’t want to make it more than it is.
I’m a desperate father. I’m trying to reach her. I just pray to God she hears me.
Wins Oscar
Jon Voight wins the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance of a paralyzed Vietnam veteran in Hal Ashby’s Coming Home. Ginger Rogers and Diana Ross present the award. Voight:
I’m carrying with me all the men who gave me so much of their experience to deal with, who have contributed so much: the people in chairs, and the veterans, and the civilians, and the walkers, who are so strongly represented in what I’d call my work. Thank you very much.
