The Talks interview
Kline gives an interview to The Talks. He discusses advice he would give his younger self about the movie industry.
It’ll sound like I’m joking, but I’m serious: “Don’t listen to any advice from an older artist.” You sort of have to find your own way. The only thing I would say is the thing William Goldman said in his book about Hollywood – nobody knows anything. When you’re young you tend to think they know what they’re doing, but they don’t really know.
My Old Lady
0 CommentsIn this comedy drama, directed by Israel Horovitz, Kline plays Gold, a New Yorker who inherits a Parisian apartment from his estranged father. When he arrives in France to sell the apartment the old lady who has lived in there for years is not prepared to budge. Co-starring Maggie Smith, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Elie Wajeman.
When I first went to Paris to promote an American movie, journalists were asking questions as if I were talking about an art form, not a business. It was very different, I find that the films I shot in France, they’re more respectful and appreciative of whether you’re an actor or director.
Emmy nomination
Kline is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie at the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards for portraying Cyrano de Bergerac on Cyrano de Bergerac.
