Lawsuit dropped

The city of Orlando drops a lawsuit it had filed against a church, which stood in the way of the construction of a new soccer stadium. The stadium will now be constructed one block west of the originally planned location. The city of Orlando had offered the church as much as four million dollars for the land, and initiated eminent domain proceedings when Faith Deliverance Temple officials would not budge. The church feels that the city’s decision is:

Ridgewell replaces Beckerman

Beckerman will not be able to play in the exhibition game against German team Bayern Munich. His place within the Major League Soccer All-Stars selection is taken by Ridgewell of the Portland Timbers. According to Timbers coach Caleb Porter, who is also coaching the  All-Stars this year:

Liam will be a quality addition.

Suspension

Timbers defender Paparatto is suspended for one game, in addition to being fined an unnamed amount, as a result of an incident that occurred during Sunday’s 4-2 home defeat against the Sounders. Paparatto struck the head of opponent Chad Marshall while defending a corner kick. At the time Paparatto received a yellow card for the infraction.

MLS releases the schedule for the first week of play, as well as all home opening games. The first game of the season will take place on March 6, 2015, with the defending champion Galaxy hosting the Fire. MLS feels that:
