Martin Freeman interview

The Guardian interviews Freeman about rumors that he is just playing his self in every project he has done.

Well, no I’m not. If you mean I look a bit like him and I sound a bit like him yeah, that’s because I’m playing him and it didn’t say ‘He’s Somalian’ on the script, otherwise I would have tried an accent. If the script says, ‘Guy in his 30s, my generation, lives in England’, what am I going to do? Start acting like I’m half-lizard? There’s no point, because no one wants to see it.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

Freeman plays Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit on a quest to save Middle-Earth, in this final installment of the fantasy trilogy directed by Peter Jackson from the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien. Bilbo stands with the dwarves and elves to save Middle-Earth from Smaug. Co-starring Ian McKellen and Richard Armitage.

I knew it was going to be epic! And it is epic. It’s still epic. I knew it’d be tiring and I knew it’d be exhilarating and hard sometimes. And yes, it’s been all those things, really.

Labour election broadcast

Political EndorsementTV Appearance0 Comments

Freeman appears in an election broadcast for Labour party.

We are in the run-up to a general election and you are going to hear loads of claims from people from the left, on the right, all over the place. It’s going to drive you mad. It will probably drive me mad. It boils down to a choice between a Labour government and a Conservative one…But it isn’t just a choice between two different plans, two different ways of getting the deficit down. It’s a choice between two completely different sets of values – a choice about what kind of country we want to live in.

What’s the choice in this election?

Freeman will play an unnamed character in the follow-up to 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier alongside Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson. Producer Feige:

From his roles as Bilbo Baggins and Doctor Watson to Tim in The Office, Martin’s range from the dramatic to the comedic has consistently impressed us. We couldn’t be more honored or excited to have such a talented actor join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
