Fulham signs striker Smith from Leeds for £500,000. The player has signed a three year contract with an option of extending it by a further 12 months. He has made 43 appearances for his former side scoring 13 goals.
I’m excited by the challenge and hopefully it will prove to be a successful period for Fulham and myself. I have a lot to offer and hopefully I can play my part – as a new player you just want to show what you can do.
After four years on the show, BBC announces that Smith will be leaving Doctor Who. His regeneration is slated to take place on the Christmas special as the actor takes his final bow and a new one steps in. Reflecting on this decision, Steven Moffat comments:
The Doctor can be clown and hero – often at the same time – and Matt rose to both challenges magnificently. And even better than that, given the pressures of this extraordinary show, he is one of the nicest and hardest-working people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Whatever we threw at him – sometimes literally – his behaviour was always worthy of the Doctor.
Great actors always know when it’s time for the curtain call, so this Christmas prepare for your hearts to break as we say goodbye to number 11. Thank you Matt – bow ties were never cooler.
