Inherits over $100 million

Cause of death: lack of oxygen
An investigation by the New York City office of the Chief Medical Examiner reveals that Rivers died due to lack of oxygen to the brain resulting in brain damage. The Medical Examiner’s office considers the manner of death “a predictable complication of medical therapy”. Melissa:

Lawsuit against doctor expected
Melissa Rivers is expected to file a lawsuit against Dr. Gwen Korovin, the doctor who performed the unscheduled biopsy during which Joan suffered cardiac arrest. Korovin continues to practice medicine. A friend of Melissa’s:

Melissa speaks for first time since funeral
Melissa speaks for the first time since her mother’s funeral by posting a message on Whosay.com:
As my son Cooper and I mourn the loss of my mother, we want to thank everyone for the beautiful cards and flowers conveying heartfelt messages and condolences, which continue to arrive from around the world and through social media. My mother would have been overwhelmed by the scope and depth of the love that people have expressed for her. It is certainly helping to lift our spirits during this time.
We are forever grateful for your kindness and support in continuing to honor my mother’s legacy, and for remembering the joy and laughter that she brought to so many.
Leaves funeral home
Melissa Rivers delivers a final farewell to her mother, Rivers one day before her funeral. Melissa and her son Cooper trail Rivers hearse outside the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home before the coffin is taken to a New Jersey crematorium.
Funeral will get Red Carpet treatment
Us Weekly reports there will be a crimson carpet for guests to walk before paying their final respects to Rivers during her Sunday funeral. The carpeting outside the Temple Emanu-El on the East Side will be buried with Rivers. Rivers is known for making fashion critiques of celebrities on red carpet Hollywood events.
Melissa Rivers spent 90 minutes inside the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home on Friday working on the final arrangements. When asked how she is doing:

Remains on life support
Rivers remains in serious condition and on life support. Melissa Rivers:

Family considers lawsuit
It will take until Tuesday (Sept 2) to bring Rivers out of a medically induced coma. Melissa Rivers is considering suing the clinic due to possible lost motor skills that her mother will face. Source:
There is real concern that the part of the brain that controls motor skills may have been compromised, leaving her as either a vegetable or in a wheelchair.
On life support
Rivers is on life support at a Manhattan hospital. Rivers’ daughter Melissa Rivers, other family and friends are with her. Sources say of Melissa Rivers:

Rivers is in a medically-induced coma at St. Sinai Hospital in New York. Melissa Rivers:

Rushed to hospital in critical condition
Rivers is hospitalized after she stops breathing during throat surgery at Yorkville Endoscopy clinic on East 93rd Street, New York. She is rushed to Mount Sinai hospital after a 911 caller reports somebody in either cardiac or respiratory arrest. Her daughter, Melissa Rivers is by her side. Hospital spokesman Sid Dinsay:
This morning, Joan Rivers was taken to The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, where she is being attended to. Her family wants to thank everybody for their outpouring of love and support. We will provide an update on her condition as it becomes available.

You know why not try everything maybe at this age. A lot of my friends are gay and I thought lets see what happens. Also if I was with a woman I suddenly figured out I could double my wardrobe immediately.

It’s like unbelievable, how do you think I felt? I mean what am I going to do? First of all I find out after the fact and then its like, oh what do you say? I don’t want two moms and then Cooper, I’ve got to explain enough to that poor child. I have to go deal with this. They already think I’m crazy at the school.
