About Me

For industries handling hazardous liquids, it’s important to comply with regulations and use industry-standard equipment. New and small companies might not be able to appreciate the importance of investing on more expensive equipment, but at the end of the day, skimping out on initial costs will be the cause of losing a lot more in the near future.

The worse part of this is that future losses from substandard equipment aren’t exclusive to the company’s tangible assets but also the health and well-being of their employees. This is the very reasons why regulations for using high-quality equipment exist; to protect workers from their increased exposure to work-related hazards due to the nature of their work. Here are some examples of equipment used in handling containers that house corrosive, toxic, flammable and any material that is considered hazardous.

·         Drum Tilters.

Under no circumstances should workers even consider of using entirely manual procedures to tip over a drum. Not even if the contents are seemingly too small to matter. Adhering to work regulations is imperative especially in their line of work. Pouring the contents of a drum to another receptacle should be done by securing it on a drum tilter. Using this equipment, workers can securely and gradually tip the drum to start pouring its contents. It’s also known as a drum dumper. Some would technically consider them a different type of equipment but their function is essentially the same thing.

·         Drum Clamps.

Hoisting drums for loading on a transport truck or simply moving them from one area of the warehouse to another requires a powerful crane. Fortunately, cranes are expected to live up to their standards by overshooting performance beyond their indicated capacities, although it isn’t advisable to do so. But no matter how powerful a crane can be, it’s only as powerful and reliable as its weakest link. When drum clamps holding on to heavy drums are unable to withstand the forces it is exposed to, unspeakable risks are bound to happen. Also considering that clamps are not only expected to secure the weight of the drum and its contents but also the amount of increased pressure when the crane stops abruptly. It’s imperative to get ones that has a good integrity between its parts.

·         Drum Dollies.

While cranes are used in loading numerous drums into another part of the warehouse, single drums are moved using a trolley designed for drums. Drum dollies are straightforward enough to use, but is also expected to be able to withstand forces beyond the weight of the drum and its contents. Wheels attached to the platform must be able to adjust to sudden turns, for example. Companies can order dollies of specific sizes if they wish to do so. Of course, it’s best to  about the manufacturer of the equipment to ensure high quality.

Ultimately, every equipment used in drum handling and practically all operations have to be industry standard. Check out some of the most reliable options at this website and read more about reviews on the products posted.
