  • Tottenham Hotspur FC are a professional football team based in North London. Formed in 1882 by members of the Hotspur cricket club, the ‘Lilywhites’ became the first (and still only) non-league club to win the F.A. Cup in 1901.  Bill Nicholson’s ‘Spurs’ became the first team in the 20th century to do the ‘Double’ in 1961 when they won the League Championship and F.A. Cup in the same season.  In 1963 Spurs became the first British team to win a major European trophy when they defeated Atletico Madrid 5-1 in the final of the European Cup Winners Cup. In total, Spurs have won 2 League Championships, 8 F.A. Cups, 4 League Cups, 2 UEFA Cups and the European Cup Winners Cup.

    Spurs make it two wins out of two with a comprehensive 4-0 win over another London rival.  Harry Redknapp’s return to White Hart Lane is ruined as new Spurs Head Coach, Mauricio Pochettino watches his team outplay the R’s from start to finish. A first half brace from Nacer Chadli and a second in two games for Eric Dier give Spurs a commanding 3-0 lead before half time. Emanuel Adebayor completes the rout in the second half.

    Spurs start the season with a 1-0 win over their local rivals. Despite having defender Kyle Naughton controversially sent off in the first half, new Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino keeps all his attacking players on the field.  A red card for James Collins in the second half makes it 10 vs 10 and Spurs snatch the points when debutant Eric Dier slots home in the final minute following a precise through ball from Harry Kane.
