Sandigo wins People Magazine Award for hero of the year for her work as founder and executive director of American Fraternity Inc were she advocates for and guides immigrant families in their life in the U.S. Her main focus is on immigration orphans who are American-born children of illegal immigrants who face deportation which has led to her becoming the legal guardian to more than 800 children.
