Holders Luton return to the scene of their epic 1989 League Cup win over Arsenal but cannot repeat the feat as Forest claim the trophy for the third time. Two goals from Nigel Clough and one from Nigel Webb see Forest overturn a halftime deficit to run out 3-1 winners in front of just 76,130 at Wembley.

Michail Antonio heads in the first goal in the 17th minute to put Forest ahead and that is all for the first half. It shows how far we have came as a team, to be sat here disappointed, to feel we should have got a point and maybe even could have won. We dominated the second half and we just couldn’t get a break. Their goalkeeper was probably man of the match, that tells you something.
Spurs 3-1 Nottingham Forest
Spurs come back from a goal down to win 3-1 against the Championship leaders. Both teams make comprehensive changes to their starting line-ups with Tottenham starting with a completely different eleven from the home defeat by W.B.A. at the weekend. Debutant Jorge Grant puts the visitors ahead on the hour mark but the Londoners prevail with strikes from Ryan Mason, Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane. Spurs will meet Brighton at home in the next round. Forest fans wear green sweatshirts in tribute to their former manager Brian Clough on the tenth anniversary of his death.
