Perabo plays a small town girl named Violet Sanford who moves to New York City to become a songwriter. This romantic comedy film is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. While waiting on her big break and attempting to get over her stage fright, she takes on a job as a bartender and meets her boyfriend Kevin O’Donnell played by Adam Garcia. Movie critic Roger Ebert describes her:
So fetching she sort of stops the clock. She has one of those friendly Julia Roberts smiles, good comic timing, ease and confidence on the screen.
Perabo is engaged to her director-producer Stephen Kay, who co-executive produces the USA Network show Covert Affairs. She spoke about balancing a demanding job with her love life.
As a woman who has a sort of high-powered job myself, I know how complicated a relationship can be even if it’s with somebody you’re working with. I think it’s also an interesting thing to explore especially if your partner is also in a high-powered stressful job and how you kind of manage that and keep it romantic and spontaneous.
Perabo plays Annie Walker, a CIA agent sent to do field work for the Domestic Protection Division. Her handler, Auggie who is blind, is played by Christopher Gorham. Season five introduces Ryan McQuaid played by Nicholas Bishop. On McQuaid’s character:
He seems like a bad guy and then Annie starts to think he’s a good guy. Because of how high level this is… you definitely don’t know who the bad guy is… I think it makes the whole thing really dangerous, really exciting — who you tell the secrets to, who knows where you really are.
Perabo marries Kay in New York City. After the marriage, a reception with a New Orleans-style band was held nearby. Perabo wears a high-necked, long-sleeved animal-print Michael Kors wedding gown (the same dressJennifer Lopez wore to the 2013 Met Gala).
Perabo and Kay get married in New York City. Perabo wears a metallic gown and Kay wears a casual blue suit and gray fedora.
