I thought it was interesting. I liked the character. I liked Justin, the director. And they were getting certain people. Diane Keaton, I was hearing that she was going to be in it, and I thought that would be great.

DeNiro nabs the Best Actor win at the Academy Awards for his portrayal of the life and death of middleweight boxer Jake La Motta in Martin Scorcese’s biopic Raging Bull. DeNiro:

I want to thank everyone. Since it’s said so often, but it’s true and it’s…what can I say? I want to thank . . . . Vickie La Motta and all the other wives, and Joey La Motta even though he’s suing us. I hope that settles soon enough so I can go over to his house and eat once in a while.

DeNiro plays Jake La Motta, a middleweight boxer and portrays his violent journey through life.  This biopic is directed by Martin Scorsese and co-stars Joe Pesci and Cathy Moriarty.

It was sent to me by Pete Savage who was very helpful in getting the whole thing started and very helpful in getting me trained with Jake and Jake was one of the associate producers and something about the story interested me.
