Friends of alleged victim refute article’s claims

Three friends of the alleged rape victim at the University of Virginia mentioned in Rolling Stone‘s article come forward to refute the article’s claim that they discouraged the victim from reporting the attack. Kathryn Hendley, Alex Stock, and Ryan Duffin tell AP in an interview that the facts reported are incorrect. Duffin:

I couldn’t help but notice that everything that the article said about me was incorrect. My first reaction was, ‘We need to go to police.’ I wanted to go to police immediately. I was really forceful on that, actually. And I almost took it to calling (the police) right there. But she didn’t want to and I can’t do that if she doesn’t want to do it.

Stock corroborates:

Jackie’s response was, ‘I don’t want to.”I don’t want to do that right now. I just want to go to bed.’
