Hitchcock Blonde

Play/Show Appearance0 Comments

Pike appears in Terry Johnson’s play Hitchcock Blonde at the Royal Court Theatre. Johnson discusses the theme of the play:

You’ve actually reached a point in your life where the only play you could possibly write is a play about falling in love with a younger woman.

Inadvertently ordering the same dish as Hitchcock eats in the play:

I remember the first time I took Rosamund to lunch I accidentally ordered dover sole and immediately changed my order in case she left the restaurant.

Die Another Day

Film Appearance0 Comments

Pike plays the undercover MI6 agent Miranda Frost in the 20th James Bond film, directed by Lee Tamahori. After Bond is captured in North Korea, Frost is revealed to be a double agent and battles a female NSA agent aboard a plane carrying a doomsday device. Pierce Brosnan, Halle Berry, Toby Stephens, Rick Yune, John Cleese, and Judi Dench co-star.

Before I was cast as a Bond girl, I had never actually seen a James Bond movie. The Bond audition was strange—I’d just come back from China, doing the kind of hippie-backpacking thing that people do when they leave school. All the girls in this beautiful old town house waiting to see the casting director were sleek and dressed in what seemed to me like leather. I was wearing something very thick and woolly. I was convinced I was all wrong.

Relationship with Woods

Romance0 Comments

rosamund-pike-relationship-woodsPike begins a relationship with Woods while studying at Oxford. She has not previously dated often:

I don’t sleep around … I’m not saying they’re the only people I’ve been out with. But I take love quite seriously. I’m talking about the life-changing ones, the ones who somehow get inside you, who actually alter your chemical make-up, where you get butterflies and feel like your stomach’s turning over – a whole physical world which you’re not in control of at all. And I think one is lucky when one gets to feel this. Some people I don’t think ever do.

Turned down by drama schools

Before being accepted at Oxford, Pike is turned down by every drama school she applies to:

There’s this impression that I’ve somehow lived a charmed life. When I applied for drama school I was turned down by every single one, which was crushing at 19, although it’s now a badge of honor.
