Parade cover
Johansson appears on the cover of a March 2007 issue of Parade magazine. She talks about looking like a boy, avoiding the paparazzi, and being called sexy.
It’s a nice compliment, I guess. It’s funny, because for a male actor the idea of being sexy can be very daunting. A lot of young male actors want to be chameleons and play all different kinds of characters. For a woman, I think it’s always a compliment to have people think you’re attractive.

This industry in which I was practically raised has been so impossibly kind to me. There’s never a day where I go to set and don’t thank my lucky stars to simply be a working actor.
W Magazine cover
Johansson appears on the cover of the 40th anniversary issue of W Magazine. She talks about how she doesn’t like turtlenecks.
Turtlenecks — they’re horrible. I tried to get into them because they are so practical, but they’re just so unfortunate. Men don’t like turtlenecks. I’ve never met a man who likes anything around his neck other than my hands.

Harper’s Bazaar interview
Johansson gives an interview to Harper’s Bazaar Magazine about her role in the film Under The Skin.
I think the film that we made is so different from the book that it probably wouldn’t have made any difference at all if I had read it. And I didn’t want to have any kind of impression of that at all because I had to work from the script. Over a few years that Jonathan Glazer and I were having these conversations and the core of the story became stronger and the purpose was clearer in his mind and the idea of the two of us collaborating became more of a reality. I really wanted to work with Jonathan Glazer and I would give that kind of commitment anyway if I really wanted to work with somebody. When I know I want to do something and I want it, I’ll get it or I’ll at least try. But I think part of that comes from having spent 20 years in the industry and still being that kid that wants the part. To me, I always feel like that if it doesn’t work out and I don’t get the part it’s because the director and I had different ideas and that makes sense to me. Under The Skin was always open and I didn’t have to convince Jonathan.
Glamour cover
Johansson appears on the cover of the May 2014 issue of Glamour magazine. The cover photo was taken by Munro and styled by Sabrina Schreder. The actress talks about playing younger characters.
When I made Lost in Translation, I was 17, and now I’m 29…. I think I’ve been ‘in my early twenties’ for, like, over a decade! That’s a normal side effect of being a young actor. You’re captured in a certain time of your life, and it’s hard for people to move past that.
Lucy
Johansson plays Lucy, a drug mule, in this science fiction thriller written and directed by Luc Besson. Lucy is accidentally injected with a drug that causes her to access more and more of her brain, turning her into something more than human. Co-starring Morgan Freeman.
There’s so much going on inside of her. She’s having all these profound changes and realizations and these sudden “ah-ha” moments. But you still want to watch the person and see that there’s an inner life happening there.
Lucy
In this sci-fi drama directed by Luc Besson, Johansson plays Lucy, a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal, who turns tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic. Co-starring Morgan Freeman,Analeigh Tipton, Choi Min-Sik and Amr Waked. Besson:
I’ve always worked with sci-fi since my first film. So it’s never very far. But I like going from Fifth Element to Joan of Arc and going from The Family to Lucy. So I like that. But what attracts me also very much as a director is the cast. To have Scarlett, who I really like — I’ve seen her on Broadway in her play. I’ve been there twice. I love Morgan Freeman. Choi Min-sik is a genius. Amr Waked is a great Egyptian actor. For a director to have this mix of characters coming from everywhere around the world, it’s so exciting, so exciting
Rose Dorothy is born
Johansson and fiancé Dauriac welcome their first child—Rose Dorothy—into the world. The baby’s middle name is an homage to Johansson’s grandmother, whom she called the first Francophone in my family. Publicist Marcel Pariseau:
