Stanger talks to Shape Magazine about meditation.

Yes, I meditate every day for about 15 to 20 minutes, and sometimes at night if I can’t sleep. I think meditation calms me down. I don’t sweat the small stuff. Meditation gives you confidence too, because if someone says something about you, you realize, ‘nah, that’s not true. That’s what you think of me and that’s okay.’ And then you evolve; you weed out the bad people in your life. You get rid of the bad jobs. You have confidence to go after that dream job or move to a new city or start a new life or just go after the things you normally wouldn’t do, because you were afraid. It takes away that fear.

Gomes tells Shape Magazine about how she uses the Paleo diet to maintain her weight.

With food, I just have one rule; I try and stay away from breads and pastas. Other than that, I eat everything. I follow the Paleo Diet which works really well for me. Anything that can swim, run, or is grown from the ground is allowed on the diet. I’ve tried being a vegan and following a raw foods diet, but none of these are sustainable when you travel a lot. At least now, I have tons of options no matter where I am.

Taylor speaks to Shape Magazine about her exercise routine.

I get up every morning at 4:50 a.m. and put on my running shoes and go for a nice little jog in my neighborhood. I get up before everybody else. That’s my time. I get to go over what the day is going to bring and I get to pray and clear my mind. It’s a lifestyle now and if I don’t, I feel like something’s off. My husband is really into Crossfit. He’ll write out programs for me, and if it’s raining out I’ll do that one day to switch it up.

Michele tells Shape Magazine about Hands for Habitat, an online auction which benefits Habitat For Humanity.

It’s such an amazing cause! We have all these handprints, which you can find on the Valspar Facebook page. You can bid on them and all the donations and proceeds go to the Habitat for Humanity Disaster Response Program. It’s really such a great thing that so many people have donated their hand prints and have gotten super creative, although mine are definitely the best and should be bid on the most (laughs).

Andrews speaks to Shape Magazine about her workout routine.

I try to stay in shape just to handle things like the stress of a job or everyday life. Working with men for the past 15 years, you end up eating and drinking like a guy. So I have no choice to basically have it in my mind that I have to work out every day. That is the way I have programmed myself. And if I don’t work out one day, I’ll just say to myself, that’s just one day that’s OK, that’s the way it worked out. But I try to do something every single day.

I just moved to New York City in January and I’m loving the variety of workout classes! I really love classes because again, I’m a competitive person, so I like to be around people that push me, and I feel like classes really do that. I’ve been doing Barre, as well as Physique fifty seven, which I’m really enjoying. Because I’m so tall, I want to work on my legs and obviously every woman wants to work on their rear end and their core, so I feel like those classes are perfect for me. They really target those areas. Plus, I’ve danced my whole life so I’ve got that dance background. On the days I can’t go to classes, I try to take a run or hit the treadmill. I’m not much of a runner but I do need cardio.

Shahi talks to to Shape Magazine about what makes her feel sexy.

Right when I finish a workout, I feel pretty sexy. Even though I’m sweaty and I don’t smell like a rose, I feel strong. It does a lot for me mentally and physically. I feel in control, not to mention, it still feels good when guys check me out, especially my hubby. Reading is another one. I know it sounds weird, but my definition of sexy has changed as I’ve gotten older. And being smart and informed makes me feel sexier than any outfit. Right now I’m reading Writing Screenplays for Fun and Profit by Thomas Lennon and it’s hilarious.

Elfman talks to Shape Magazine about exercise routine.

For exercise, I walk, climb stairs, hike, dance, and do some strength training exercises and lift free weights. But really, all this only happens when I can make time for it in my day without falling over from already being tired from working and parenting my two young boys. But here’s a little trick for when I am limited on time I keep two ten pound weights in my bathroom, and every day I do a quick set of lifting in the morning or when getting ready for bed. Also, I do lunges while brushing my teeth and then I try to do ten to fifteen push-ups before bed. If you’re consistent with this shortcut regimen, it’s amazing the results you can accomplish.

Deen speaks to Shape Magazine about losing over 40 pounds.

Years ago, when I overcame my agoraphobia, I woke up one day and made the decision to change my life. It wasn’t an easy decision, but I knew the time was right. My family all lost their weight in different ways; there is no one right way. For me, my doctors told me that fighting my diabetes would be easier with less weight, so it was a natural decision. I realized, like we all do, that you have to listen to your doctor.

Webb tells Shape Magazine about training for her role in the TV series, Splash.

There is definitely nothing like it on TV. It’s basically me and 10 other celebrities in a diving competition. We’ve been training intensely with Olympic diver Greg Louganis for the past six weeks, diving off one to ten meter platforms. He really works with us on our form and how we enter the water, because we’ll be judged on all that.

Schlapman and Fairchild talk to Shape Magazine about their workout routines while on the road.

Fairchild:

We both probably approach it in a similar fashion, but I’d definitely say portion control and eating healthy is key. After shows is probably the hardest to be disciplined. You come off stage and are always really hungry. So that’s when it’s all about making a good choice. I’m not saying I always do, because I don’t (laughing). We also try to keep good sleeping patterns.

Schlapman:

Portion control is key for me too. When I want to get more disciplined, I’ll use an app that helps count calories. For me, calories really matter. On the road, almost every day I’ll do 100 squats, or sometimes I might do 50 squats and a bunch of leg lifts. I’ll split them up right before I get in the shower and before I go to bed, or sometimes I’ll do all 100 at once. Whatever I do, I try to get those in.

Morris tells Shape Magazine about her workout routine.

I work out at least five days a week. It is part of my lifestyle now and I really enjoy it. I do everything from yoga to Barre Fitness classes to jogging. I try lots of different workouts to keep things exciting and love having workout partners to do classes with. Steve Nash Fitness is right across the street from where I live and their trainers always seem to be able to push my limits.

Combs tells Shape Magazine about her workout schedule.

At this point in life I have realized that the next forty years need to be about maintaining my muscles, joints, and posture. I don’t push my body through workouts as I’ve done in last 39 years like to ‘ask’ my body to do things now instead of ‘telling’ or forcing my body to do something now.

Schilling talks to Shape Magazine about her role in the series Orange Is The New Black.

Ahh, it’s so exciting! I am so excited that so many people are excited. Oh my god, it makes me feel like I’m awake in a dream! It’s such a cool thing because I personally just feel so proud about this project. I’ve never done anything that I’ve been so proud of, that has so many great stories to tell on so many levels that need to be told. This series does that, and I feel so glad to be a part of it. It’s all about real people, real stories, it’s genuine, and it’s honest. That’s what I’ve been craving, and it’s amazing to see that people are responding. It’s also so nice to finally see women on screen embracing themselves, and it’s really a breath of fresh air to see us portrayed so authentically.

Applegate speaks to Shape Magazine about managing a vegetarian diet with a family and a career.

It’s gotten harder having a little person around. I don’t know how others maintain their same lifestyle when they have someone they’re cooking for. Even though Sadie eats incredibly healthy, she eats a lot that I wouldn’t. She has a very fast metabolism and she needs a lot more calories than mama does! It’s been hard to maintain the perfect diet for myself. For breakfast, I juice a big green juice and I try to get in as much raw food and protein as I can, obviously plant proteins and legumes but sometimes it’s late at night and there’s a frozen pizza in there and sometimes it’s all you’ve got! You don’t have the energy to chop up a bunch of vegetables. I go to frozen pizza or soy chicken nuggets when I need a five-minute meal.

Milano talks to Shape Magazine about balancing motherhood and a career.

That’s a work in progress for sure! I definitely don’t have all the answers for that, but the most important things to me are my son and my marriage. Those don’t function to capacity unless I take care of myself, so I try to do the best that I can with everything else. It really comes down to after I put my baby to sleep; I have to spend quality time with my husband. It’s so important. Whether we have a conversation and talk about our day or just watch TV together, we have to have that connection. After that, it’s time to turn off all the electronics, to completely shut down, and try to pamper myself. I try to have a cup of tea or put a mask on my face and make my bedroom smell delicious. Those are all really important things.

Stanchfield talks to Shape Magazine about working with Washington.

She’s one of the hardest-working women I know! She’s just so savvy and talented, and she’s involved in the community and giving back. This role is really what she shines so much in, and it’s so lovely to see her being recognized. It’s a thrill to be on set with her.

Mancuso tells Shape Magazine about her biggest competition on the slopes.

Lindsey Vonn is queen of the downhill, so if she’s skiing well and healthy, she’s the one to beat. There’s also Tina Maze from Slovenia. She had an incredible season last year. We were always neck and neck in my best event, the Super-G. That’s the girl to beat for me.

Jones tells Shape Magazine about her book, I Am That Girl: How to Speak Your Truth, Discover Your Purpose, and Be That Girl.

It is the ultimate reminder in how awesome you are. We get so bombarded with messages saying we’re not enough. This is my humble attempt to remind girls they are intrinsically badass. Whatever you want in life, it’s possible. We have to be our own biggest cheerleader.
