Sinéad O’Connor was an Irish singer and musician, born in Dublin in 1966. Her debut studio album, The Lion and the Cobra, was released in 1987 and charted internationally. Her second studio album, I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got (1990), sold over seven million copies worldwide. Its lead single,  a cover of the Prince song “Nothing Compares 2 U” was named the number one world single in 1990 by the Billboard Music Awards. O’Connor died in July 2023.

O’Connor dies at the age of 56. The cause of death is not made public. Family statement:

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.
