A Clockwork Orange

13 Jan, 1972

Kubrick’s film adaptation of Anthony Burgess’s novel, ‘A Clockwork Orange,’ is released in American theatres. Though the film is popular and grosses millions, some critics take a negative stance. Kubrick describes the meaning of the film for him:

The central idea of the film has to do with the question of free-will. Do we lose our humanity if we are deprived of the choice between good and evil? Do we become, as the title suggests, A Clockwork Orange?
