Vanity Fair cover

Magazine Cover0 Comments

taylor-swift-september-coverSwift appears on the cover of Vanity Fair, photographed by Testino. In the interview she talks about using her celebrity for good outside music:

If you look at Oprah, she’s made so many people happy over the years. She’s made so much money, but she’s given so much of it away. . . . Same thing with Angelina Jolie. She’s been so productive, but she’s used that position to better other people’s lives, and I think that’s where I’d want to be.

On dating:

That was the way that I decided to go on with my life. Not looking for anything, not necessarily being open to anything, and only being open to the idea that, if I found someone who would never try to change me, that would be the only person I could fall in love with. Because, you know, I was in love with my life.

On being a style icon:

I think I know how to put together a good outfit. . . . But any day you’re going to admit to being a style icon is a day you need to look in the mirror and really check yourself.

Swift appears on the cover if June 2015 issue of Glamour UK. She talks about how she manages to stay grounded despite her fame.

I think that part of me not going crazy is me admitting my life is weird and not normal… My [mom] is really good at putting things back into perspective for me. And it’s really nice when she says, I know there’s no way I could possibly understand what you’re going through, but here’s what I think.

Swift and Kloss appear together on the cover of Vogue. Swift discusses keeping her work life and friends separate.

The fun thing about my friends is that they don’t necessarily know a lot about what I do business-wise.

taylor-swift-covers-asosSwift appears on the cover of the January 2015 issue of ASOS magazine. She talks about needing mistakes to happen, her best friends, and dressing for girls.

When I’m getting dressed, it’s always based on what my friends will think. They are my number one priority and the opinions of girls are more important to me at this point in my life.

The Hollywood Reporter

taylor-swift-thr-coverSwift appears on the cover of a December 2014 issue of The Hollywood Reporter. She talks about the reaction to taking her music off Spotify.

I didn’t think that it would be shocking to anyone. With as many ways as artists are personalizing their musical distribution, it didn’t occur to me that this would be anything that anyone would talk about.

taylor-swift-billboard-magazine-coverSwift appears on the cover of a December 2014 issue of Billboard magazine. She talks about being happy single, genuine friendships, and celebrity relationships.

You’ll notice a lot of celebrity-type people tend to surround themselves with people whose lives revolve around them. You’ll have a posse of these exciting and fashionable cling-ons, and it’s because those celebrities need to be fawned over.

taylor-swift-explains-why-she-doesnt-show-belly-buttonSwift appears on the cover of the December 2014/January 2015 issue of Lucky magazine. She talks about fairy-tale romance, showing her belly button, and fame.

I don’t like showing my belly button. When you start showing your belly button then you’re really committing to the midriff thing. I only partially commit to the midriff thing—you’re only seeing lower rib cage. I don’t want people to know if I have one or not. I want that to be a mystery. As far as anyone knows based on my public appearances, they haven’t seen evidence of a belly button. It could be pierced. They have no idea. If I’m going to get some sort of massive tattoo, it’s going to be right next to my belly button because no one’s ever going to see that.

taylor-swift-twitter-single-pop-wonderlandSwift appears on the cover of the November/December 2014 issue of Wonderland magazine. She talks about Twitter, being single, and having her album 1989 be a pop album.

This was sort of the final phase of the sonic evolution I feel I’ve been on for the last couple of years. I’ve been experimenting with pop sensibilities and then on my last record, I got attached to it. That’s the wonderful thing about trying as many different ways of writing music as possible – discoveries.

British Vogue cover

taylor-swift-to-british-vogue-dating-or-finding-someone-is-the-lastSwift appears on the cover of the November 2014 issue of British Vogue magazine. She talks about her album 1989 and her dating life.

Dating or finding someone is the last thing on my mind, because I can’t picture how it could work with the way my life is. I don’t know how a guy is supposed to walk next to his girlfriend when there are 20 men with cameras, and he can’t protect his girlfriend because that’s the life she chose. I just don’t see how it could work, so I don’t think about it, and I kind of run from it when it presents itself. ‘Cause I don’t think any guy really… They think that they would want to get to know me, and maybe date me, but I don’t think they want what comes with it.

taylor-swifts-cat-gets-insulted-by-john-cleeseSwift appears on the cover of the November 2014 issue of In Style magazine. She talks about starting a family one day and getting married.

I don’t know if I’ll have kids. It’s impossible not to picture certain scenarios and how you would try to convince them that they have a normal life when, inevitably, there will be strange men pointing giant cameras at them from the time they are babies.

taylor-swift-fashion-magazine-november-2014Swift appears on the cover of the November 2014 issue of Fashion magazine. She talks about what’s different about her album, important people in her life, and feeling uncool.

I’ve never had more friends who I trust and can rely on, but there’s always a bit of your self-perception that’s frozen in junior high, when you trained yourself to not feel cool. You’ll never really feel like you’re part of the ‘in’ crowd, but growing up means that matters to you less and less every day.

100814-taylor-swift-people-594Swift appears on the cover of a October 2014 issue of People magazine. She talks about this year and being single.

I made the decision to spend time on my own and figure out who I am. When you take the other person out of the scenario and you’re walking through life on your own, you end up figuring out what you actually like without anyone else’s input. I’m not too worried about whether I meet someone. I’m going to be happy either way.

Rolling Stone cover

Magazine Cover0 Comments

4skbt03aswjltb34Swift appears on the cover of the second September 2014 issue of Rolling Stone magazine. She talks about her lack of privacy, her public dating life, and on 1989’s song Bad Blood.

For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’ [Then last year] she did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational – you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it…I’m not the female police — but it broke my heart. Because I have such a high priority on girls sticking together.

taylor-swift-march-cover-h724Swift appears on the cover of the March 2014 issue of Glamour magazine. The singer talks about being a role model. The cover photo is taken by Demarcherlier and styled by Anne Christensen.

I find it relatively easy to keep my clothes on because I don’t really feel like taking them off. It’s not an urge I have. For me “risky” is revealing what really happened in my life through music. Risky is writing confessional songs and telling the true story about a person with enough details so everyone knows who that person is. That’s putting myself out there, maybe even more than taking my shirt off.

New York cover

Magazine Cover0 Comments

taylor-swift-covers-new-york-magazineSwift appears on the cover of the November 2013 issue of New York magazine. She talks about her life has changed, country music, and things not always being okay.

I think that allowing yourself to feel raw, real emotions in public is something I am never going to be afraid to do. Hopefully that’s the case, if I can remain a real human. I’m fine with being honest with my fans about the fact that it’s okay that everything isn’t okay all the time. I love my life, I love my career, I love my friends—but things are not okay all the time. So I don’t sing about things being okay all the time.
