IRS beats Tea Party groups in court

Republican-appointed Judge Reggie Walton of the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia throws out two suits brought by more than 40 groups seeking remedies in the tea party targeting scandal. The cases are ruled to be moot as the IRS has now granted the groups tax-exempt status, which they had sought for several years. The ruling represents a victory for the IRS, and could head off other challenges by similar groups. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who heads a congressional subpanel investigating the controversy:

You get targeted and harassed for three years but, oh, because you finally get [tax-exempt status], the three years of harassment doesn’t mean anything? I find that argument lacking tremendously in light of what these people went through.
