Internet Association net neutrality case
The Internet Association, a collection of technology companies including Reddit, Twitter, Google, Netflix, and Amazon, issues a memo to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) asking for net neutrality, the policy that internet services providers should not be allowed to give preferential treatment to certain websites over others. The report is filed near the end of a 120-day period where the FTC accepts comments from the public on a recent case where the DC Circuit Court of Appeals eliminates the FTC’s ability to enforce net neutrality:
The internet is threatened by broadband Internet access providers who would turn the open, best-efforts Internet into a pay-for-priority platform more closely resembling cable television than today’s Internet
