Spurs 1-0 Norwich
Spurs win their second League Cup in three years thanks to a long range strike from Ralph Coates in the 72nd minute. As in their first League Cup win two years earlier, a record crowd of 100,000 fill Wembley Stadium. Spurs now have a record five wins out of five under the famous twin towers.
Liverpool 3-1 Spurs (aet)
Spurs come agonisingly close to winning their third League Cup after an 11th minute opportunist strike from Steve Archibald. A Ronnie Whelan strike in the 87th minute forces extra time, during which Whelan gets his second and Ian Rush seals the victory for the Reds.
Spurs 1-0 Leicester
Super Spurs win their third League Cup thanks to a diving header by the Dane, Alan Nielsen in the last minute of extra time. Spurs’ Justin Edinburgh becomes the first player to be sent off in a League Cup Final for doing what millions have wanted to do for years, slapping Leicester’s Robbie Savage.

Man Utd 0-0 Spurs (United 4-1 on penalties)
United lift the 2009 League Cup after a penalty shootout victory over Spurs after a disappointing goalless game. United score all four of their penalties while Spurs miss two of their three and miss out on winning back to back League Cup finals.
West Ham 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs start the season with a 1-0 win over their local rivals. Despite having defender Kyle Naughton controversially sent off in the first half, new Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino keeps all his attacking players on the field. A red card for James Collins in the second half makes it 10 vs 10 and Spurs snatch the points when debutant Eric Dier slots home in the final minute following a precise through ball from Harry Kane.
AEL Limassol 1-2 Spurs
Two late goals turn the tie around for Spurs after the Cypriots take a first half lead. Substitute Erik Lamela changes the game as he sets up goals for Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane in the last 15 minutes to give Spurs two vital away goals ahead of the return leg at White Hart Lane in a week’s time.

Spurs make it two wins out of two with a comprehensive 4-0 win over another London rival. Harry Redknapp’s return to White Hart Lane is ruined as new Spurs Head Coach, Mauricio Pochettino watches his team outplay the R’s from start to finish. A first half brace from Nacer Chadli and a second in two games for Eric Dier give Spurs a commanding 3-0 lead before half time. Emanuel Adebayor completes the rout in the second half.

Spurs secure their place in the Europa League group stages with a comfortable 3-0 victory at White Hart Lane. Leading 2-1 from the first leg in Cyprus a week earlier, goals from Harry Kane, Paulinho and Andros Townsend make it four wins out of four for new Head Coach, Mauricio Pochettino.
Liverpool 3-0 Tottenham
We need to learn and improve – today was a very tough game for us. I think the first 45 minutes we competed very well and had some good chances. But the key moment came in the second half – it was a very soft penalty. When you are 2-0 down against Liverpool it is very difficult.

Spurs 100% start to the season is ended by a rampant Liverpool team who win with goals from Raheem Sterling, Steven Gerrard and Alberto Moreno. Emanuel Adebayor and Nacer Chadli miss Spurs two best chances. The game turns on the second goal resulting from a controversial penalty awarded for a tug by Eric Dier on Joe Allen early in the second half.

Tottenham signs Stamboulli from Montpellier on £4.7 million. The French U21 defensive midfielder signs a four year contract and his squad number is 20. He has made 129 appearances for his former club scoring four goals.

Sunderland 2-2 Tottenham
Tottenham draw at Sunderland but lead the game twice. Nacer Chadli scores in the second minute of the game but his goal is leveled two minutes later by Adam Johnson. The second half opens with a goal from Christian Eriksen three minutes in, but an own goal in the 82nd minute by Harry Kane denies his side the three points. Poyet:
It was an incredible game. Without a doubt the most difficult we have had. I thought we played better but the opposition was the best we have played so far.
Sunderland 2-2 Spurs
Spurs fail to see off Sunderland as the Wearsiders twice come from behind to draw the game. Nacer Chadli’s third goal of the season, and Christian Eriksen’s first, are not enough to give Spurs the points. A solo effort from Adam Johnson and an own goal by Harry Kane give the home side an undeserved share of the spoils as they only have one shot on target in the entire game.
Partizan Belgrade 0-0 Spurs
Spurs get their Europa League group stage campaign under way with a hard fought draw against the Serbian champions. A vociferous crowd provide a noisy backdrop for a disappointing game. In a game of few clear cut chances, Spurs best effort comes in the first minute when Harry Kane smashes the ball against the crossbar.
Spurs 0-1 West Brom
Spurs slide to a dismal home defeat against a West Bromwich Albion side that is bottom of the league and without a win this season. James Morrison heads the winner for the Baggies as he is given freedom of the box by the lacklustre home defence. A second straight home defeat without scoring leads to boos at the final whistle from the disappointed home fans.
Spurs 3-1 Nottingham Forest
Spurs come back from a goal down to win 3-1 against the Championship leaders. Both teams make comprehensive changes to their starting line-ups with Tottenham starting with a completely different eleven from the home defeat by W.B.A. at the weekend. Debutant Jorge Grant puts the visitors ahead on the hour mark but the Londoners prevail with strikes from Ryan Mason, Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane. Spurs will meet Brighton at home in the next round. Forest fans wear green sweatshirts in tribute to their former manager Brian Clough on the tenth anniversary of his death.
