Sues Pirate Joe’s
Trader Joe’s sues Pirate Joe’s, a Vancouver, Canada store that resells Trader Joe’s branded merchandise. Hallatt, the owner and operator of Pirate Joe’s, comments:
It’s very typical of companies to think they have to bully little guys out of some sense of brand protection.
Lawsuit dismissed
A Seattle U.S. District Court dismisses a lawsuit brought by Trader Joe’s against Michael Hallatt of Vancouver, Canada. Hallatt operates Pirate Joe’s, a Vancouver store he stocks with Trader Joe’s branded merchandise. The court said it did not have jurisdiction. Hallatt:
This was a fight over principle. If you legally own something, you have the right to resell it.
John Shields Jr dies at 82
