Unveils autonomatronics technology

Disney introduces a new type of animated puppet for use in their live shows. The figure is named “Otto,” and the technology is called autoanimatronics. Otto can hear and see guests interacting with him, so he can respond to the audience appropriately. The figure can also sense the mood of the guests and tell how many people are in the audience:

Autonomatronics technology is different from Audio-Animatronics technology. Audio-Animatronics technology repeats a pre-programmed show over and over again. Autonomatronics technology is driven by sophisticated cameras and sensors giving Otto the ability to make choices about what to say and do.

It’s important to note that actual wait times, FASTPASS return times and detailed character appearances are only available in the park you are in. When you’re out of the park or on the soon-to-be-launched mobile Web site, you’ll see scaled-down wait time descriptions (now – moderate – high demand) FASTPASS availability (yes – limited availability – not available) and the list of character appearances will be limited.
