Zayn Malik born in Bradford, England
Born in Bradford to Yassir, who comes from Pakistan, and Tricia, who is British. His grandfather on his fathers side, Mohammed was born in Pakistan. His mothers family is from Ireland and England.
Malik has three sisters, one is older named Doniya and his younger sisters; Waliyha and Safaa.

Signs with Syco
One Direction signs a £10 million (over $17 million) with Cowell’s Syco records that includes two studio albums and a greatest hits collection. The contract will commence after the release of the third album in November and end in 2016.

A December release is set for the Where We Are Tour movie. The DVD will include their entire Milan concert at the San Siro Stadium. Unlike the This Is Us movie, there will be no accompanying documentary. However, it will include backstage footage and other bonus features.
Marijuana video
Malik and Tomlinson make a video where they smoke marijuana as they drive to a show in Lima, Peru. In the video, the two make comments that involve jokes about drug use and disappointment over their latest book. The group’s representatives say that the matter is being taken care of by their lawyers.
Apology
Payne takes to Twitter to be the first to apologize on behalf of the band after the smoking video. He also shows appreciation to fans who continue their support.

Third fragrance
Liam announces via social media the release of the third fragrance, You And I, inspired by their song of the same title. The new scent will be available for purchase in the summer.
Meet sick children
One Direction works with Rays Of Sunshine, a charity that grants wishes to ill children, to meet and greet with over 50 children. During the meet, the band takes turns to answer questions and posing take pictures with them before their Wembley Arena concert. Children who receive the One Direction wish also receive a signed t-shirt, 2 concert tickets and the band’s fragrance, Our Moment.
Lauer questions Malik’s no-show
Lauer questions Malik’s no-show for an appearance by One Direction on the Today show to promote the band’s new album Four. Lauer says there are rumors that Malik suffers from substance abuse. Lauer:
There’s obviously a lot of concern, a lot of fans have been tweeting overnight. There’s been a lot of action on social media about him. Is it something more serious than just a minor illness? There have been rumors of substance abuse. What’s going on?
Payne:
No, he’s just got a stomach bug. He’s okay. He’s just at home. He just needs to rest. He’s okay.
Responds to Lauer
Malik responds to Lauer’s questions which implied possible substance abuse as a reason for his no-show during One Direction’s scheduled appearance on the Today show.
I’m really angry and upset by what was said on The Today Show. I was really ill at the weekend, that’s why I couldn’t fly to America. I was gutted to have to miss album release day, but I’m going to be back as soon as I can. As soon as I’m feeling better I’m going to join the guys and carry on with the promotion for the album.
Quits world tour
The band says Malik quit the tour due to stress. He is to return home to Britain as the rest of the band go on to play shows from the Philippines to South Africa, through Europe and the United States.
Zayn has been signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate. The band wish him well and will continue with their performances in the Philippines and Indonesia.
