Interview0 Comments

Seacrest interviews Deschanel during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about her role in the tv series New Girl.

Think in the end, it’s about these characters that create comedic situations. It’s really well written, and we’ve got an amazing cast. It’s so much fun to make. I think people sense how fun it is to make because we’re just having the best time making it.

New Girl

TV Appearance0 Comments

Deschanel stars in the sitcom New Girl on the Fox network. She plays Jessica Day, a quirky but passionate school teacher who moves to a loft with three guys after being dumped by her boyfriend. Co-starring Jake Max Greenfield, Jake Johnson, Damon Wayans, Jr., and Hannah Simone.

It’s easy to say [the show is about] a girl and three guys, but obviously with any plot, you can boil it down into something that sounds generic. I have a lot of guy friends, and they help me in different ways. But it’s less about her, as these men have their issues.

Probably the most surprising thing is that it’s not really that different. You still have to make a commitment and think about that commitment every day. It’s not like you get married and then all the work is done for you. You get married and you’re still in a relationship and you’re still doing your best to make it the best relationship you can.

Gibbard:

I was just awestruck that she was even talking to me. I’d seen her movies and obviously I thought she was very beautiful.

That’s an interesting story. Almost Famous was my second movie. I had done my first movie, which was Mumford (1999), my senior year of high school. And I missed my last month of school to do it.
