Elena Jane Goulding is born in Lyonshall, England to parents Tracey Clark and Aurthur Goulding. Goulding is the second of four children. She has one brother and two sisters. Goulding’s parents divorce after her father leaves home when she is 5-years-old. She begins playing music at 9-years-old.
Goulding attended Lady Hawkins’ High School and started songwriting at 15-years-old.
We (Goulding and her father) used to see each other every other weekend and then once a month, and then never. When I first stopped seeing him I can’t remember why and it has been too long now. I don’t know what he’s like now.

There are songs on this album that I wrote when I was 15-years-old. Most of those are songs that I wrote about missing home and my family, and then there are some about my past crushes or having an early infactuations with someone. But I feel like all of my newer stuff shows how I’ve grown up over the years.

Bright Lights
0 CommentsGoulding rereleases her debut album under the title Bright Lights. The revised version of the record features six new tracks including a cover of Elton John’s Your Song. Goulding worked collaborated with Rob Blake on the production of the record.
I added several songs to the album Bright Lights in the UK that I think really showcase who I am as a songwriter now. I have different things on my mind now. I guess I’m just quite observant and I pay attention to a lot of things.
California Dreams tour
0 CommentsGoulding is the opener for Katy Perry on her California Dreams Tour. The original opener Jessie J had to pull out of the tour due to a broken foot. Perry sent her apologies to Jessie and Goulding announcement via her Twitter. Goudling says that this is a new opportunity for her.

Even in rehearsals I felt myself welling up a little bit, not that my last album didn’t. But these songs in particular are really emotional and they mean a lot to me, they’re about very personal things. It’s a good thing though, I think. If it provokes that kind of emotion in me, then hopefully that will be the same on the people.

When we released it in the UK, which was a while ago it was the 6th or 7th single from my album. So, it was kind of at the point where I was ready to write a new album anyway. So, I didn’t put much into it, then all of a sudden it was like ‘Lights’ is on the radio a lot in the US and that was it, it started it rolling.

Goulding collaborated with producers Jim Eliot, Starsmith, Billboard and Justin Parker on the record. Goulding also collaborated with Ahadadream on a remix bonus track for the song Hanging On featured on the album.
I’m hoping it will make people go out and propose to their girlfriend and do that holiday they never ended up doing. I hope it will provoke positivity as opposed to making people really sad.

The idea behind Halcyon is also days of youth and happiness and joy, and I like the idea that there can be days that are really happy and really peaceful. I don’t know, I suppose Halcyon relates to hopefulness. I like the idea of one day there being peacefulness and happiness.
