Legacy for Russia

The Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games set a lasting legacy within Russia. Because of the success of the Russia’s first Olympic Games, Russia is now set to host other major sporting eventing, such as the Russian Formula One Grand Prix, the 2016 FIH Ice Hockey World Championships, the 2017 FIBT Bob and Skeleton World Championships, and the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The 2014 Sochi Winter Games also led to the creation of the Russian International Olympic University, which will train sports managers. the IOC President states:

There will be many lasting legacies from Sochi 2014, including the RIOU, which is committed to producing graduates of the highest calibre to work in the world of sport. The Olympic Movement as a whole will benefit from the establishment of the university, as, of course, will Russian sport.
