The Big Wedding

Film Appearance0 Comments

Seyfried plays Missy, the fiancé, in this comedy directed by Justin Zackham. Don and Ellie, long divorced, have three children, one of whom was adopted from Colombia. After he is engaged, he informs Don and Ellie that his birth mother doesn’t know and wouldn’t approve of their divorce. They agree to pretend to still be married to appease her when she comes for the wedding. Co-starring Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro, Katherine Heigl, Topher Grace, Susan Sarandon and Robin Williams.

I love comedy and it’s nice to be able to get away from playing only very intense women. Acting for me is about the beauty of expression and pouring yourself into a character and I can’t hold back – I have to push myself to the limit when I’m working. So it was a pleasant challenge to work with an incredible cast and have a lot of fun being part of that atmosphere. It’s nice not to exhaust yourself all the time.

Mamma Mia

Film Appearance0 Comments

Seyfried plays bride-to-be Sophie in this musical comedy directed by Phillipa Lloyd. Sophie tries to find her real father before her wedding day as she, her friends and her family sing hit songs by the popular ’70s group ABBA to set the scenes. Co-starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård and Colin Firth.

It was pretty simple for me to just be excited, and that’s the character I play. She’s just enthusiastic about life, and I was so enthusiastic about filming that I didn’t really have to go anyplace to get the right attitude. It was a very rare experience—Greece and Meryl and Pierce and dancing and singing, sharing something that is so private for me.
