Bad Blood music video

Music Video3 Comments

Swift premieres the music video for Bad Blood (featuring Kendrick Lamar), at the Billboard Music Awards, the fourth single from her #1 album 1989. The elaborate video features Swift as a leather-clad revenge-driven hero dubbed “Catastrophe.” Many of Swift’s famous friends appear in the video, with Gomez playing Swift’s arch-enemy, “Arsyn.” The song is rumored to be about the rift between Swift and Katy Perry.

Record 24th Best Screenplay Oscar nomination

Nomination0 Comments

Allen earns his record 24th Best Screenplay Oscar nomination for Blue Jasmine, starring Cate Blanchett, who is nominated for her performance in the leading role. On writing Blanchett’s complex protagonist:

Over the years you get to see what a struggle life is for most people, how tough it is, how easy it is to be judgmental and criticize and stand outside of situations and impart your wisdom and judgment. But over the decades I’ve got more tolerant of people’s flaws and mistakes. Everybody makes a lot of them.

Premieres ‘Irrational Man’ at Cannes

Attend Event - Photocall0 Comments

Allen premieres his 46th film as director, Irrational Man, at the Cannes Film Festival in France. The dark comedy about a philosophy professor who may be losing his sanity stars Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone and Parker Posey. On the film’s topic, philosophy:

There’s no positive answer to the grim reality of life, no matter how much the philosophers talk to you or the priests or the psychologists. The bottom line after the all talk is: Life has its own agenda and it runs right over you while you’re prattling. We’re all going to wind up in the same position sooner or later.

On filmmaking:

The only thing you can think of as an artist is try to come up with something where you explain to people why life is worth living, and is a positive thing, and does have some meaning. Now, you really can’t do that without conning them. You can’t be honest and do that. Because in the end, it has no meaning. You’re living in a random universe. You’re living a meaningless life.

Music Performance0 Comments

Prince performs a live show at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, featuring classic hits and his protest song, Baltimore. 3rdEyeGirl backs Prince in front of an audience wearing mostly gray, in honor of Gray. Prince:

You look around, and the system is broken. It’s gonna take the young people to fix it this time. We need new ideas, new life. Most of all, we need new peace. And the kind of peace I’m talking about is spelled p-i-e-c-e. Next time I come to Baltimore, I want to stay in a hotel owned by one of you.

On-stage guests included Doug E. Fresh, Estellem Miguel, and State Attorney Mosby, who was seated on a leather couch on the left side of the stage, and about 20 minutes into the concert she was led to the center by Prince.
