It’s just a blessing to even be able to work with [Beyoncé]. When you follow in André’s 3000′s shoes, you’re expected to really go in. Just the fact to even be on the song with her and shot the video with her and just be in her presence. She’s such a hard working, incredible artist. I’ll never forget that day we shot the video, I’ll never forget being able to be on that song, and hopefully we got more as time goes on. Shout out to Beyoncé.

I’m always happy when I’m surrounded by water. I think I’m a mermaid or I was a mermaid. The ocean makes me feel really small and it puts my whole life into perspective. It reminds me that okay I am a huge peace of the whole earth and it humbles you and it grounds you. It almost makes me feel like I have been baptized.

I had talked about taking a vacation before, but always ended up in the studio after two weeks, so no one believed me. This time, though, I was serious. I was going to give myself a year to do the things I never get to do. Simple things like play with my nephew, pick him up from school, visit museums, go to concerts, see some Broadway shows, learn to cook a meal and spend time with my husband… Yes, I needed some relaxation, but I wanted inspiration too, from regular everyday things. They did not have to be over-the-top productions. I was looking for tiny moments that would speak to my heart and make me smile.
