Ayaan Hirsi Ali
Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a Somali-born American activist, politician, and writer born in 1969 in Mogadishu, Somalia. She is the daughter of Somali politician Hirsi Magan Isse. She emigrated to the Netherlands where she participated in the short film Submission which was critical of Islam, and became a member a Member of the Dutch Parliament. She is noted for her support of atheism, women’s rights, and negative viewpoint toward female genital mutilation. Due to her opinions on Islam, she faced death threats and moved to the USA. She is married to Harvard professor Niall Ferguson.
