Cissy Houston
Cissy Houston is an American soul and gospel singer born in 1933 in Newark, New Jersey. She was a backup singer for Aretha Franklin and Elvis Presley early in her career. Houston is the mother of Whitney Houston as well as the aunt of Dionne Warwick. Some of the solo albums she has released include Presenting Cissy Houston, Think It Over, Face to Face and Whitney and Cissy Houston. Houston has won two Grammy Awards and a Rhythm and Blues Foundation Pioneer Award. She was previously married to John Russell Houston and Freddie Garland. She has two children, Michael and Gary. Her daughter, singer Whitney Houston died in 2012.
