Diahann Carroll is an American actress and singer born in 1935 in Bronx, New York. She has appeared in films such as Carmen Jones, Porgy and Bess, Paris Blues, The Split, Hurry Sundown, and The Five Heartbeats. In 1968, she was featured in the television show Julia, which was one of the first show on television in the United States to star a black actress in a non-stereotype manner. Carroll has been honored with accolades such as a Tony Award, Golden Globe Award, and induction into the Television Academy Hall of Fame. She was married to singer Vic Damone and has one daughter.
