Nigerian Schoolgirls Kidnapping
On the night of June 14-15, gunmen kidnapped approximately 276 female students from the Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, Nigeria. Boko Haram, a terrorist organization based in northeast Nigeria, later claimed responsibility. Some girls escaped, some were reportedly killed, but most are still missing. The crime has spurred a multinational response, as well as criticism inside Nigeria of the government’s handling of the case.
