Cliff Robertson

Thanks Academy

7 Apr, 1970

Robertson officially thanks the Academy before presenting the nominees for best song performance a year after his win for Best Actor in a Leading role for his performance in Charly since he was absent at the 41st Academy Awards. Robertson:

All of us at some time in our lives have a dream. Ours was called Charly, and after seven years it came true because of a lot of people who had and kept the faith: Martin Baum, Ralph Nelson, Stirling Silliphant, a dedicated editor named Fritz Steinkamp, and a beautiful actress named Claire Bloom. But no one gave more than Ruth, John and Selig. And now they’ve left us, left us with a legacy of love and hard work and talent. And I, respectfully, would like to dedicate my award for Charly to Ruth, John and Selig. Thank you.
