Cosmopolitan cover
Rossum appears on the cover of the October 2014 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine. She talks about people’s confusion with her Shameless character, texting guys, and whether she’d get married again.
I hope I do. Honestly, I was so young, I don’t think I knew what marriage meant. My parents were never married, and I was teased in school and called a bastard. So the idea of marriage as safety forever was idealized in my head, and we rushed into it.
Tavis Smiley interview
Rossum discusses her career, including her role on the Showtime drama Shameless and new CD, Sentimental Journey, in this interview for PBS. On her love of both music and acting:
I listened to all kinds of jazz piano and classical music in my house growing up and I love music, but I just love the – I like playing pretend. I like being on stage and the costumes and the element of imagination that came into getting transported into another time. So I think for me, I always thought first I’d go onto Broadway, but I ended up going out for films and getting some indies and yeah.
Emmy Rossum interview
Rossum returns to Conan and talks about her TV show Shameless. She also sings an Italian aria to O’Brien for a hotdog, shares her fondness for redheads, and talks about her mother’s reaction to her role.
My mom’s cool with whatever I do on the show, because she’s an artist, she’s a photographer, she knows that it’s part of the job. So, she understands that it’s artistic and you know, it’s written in the script and it’s not “me” doing it.
