David Frost, Brian Losch and Tim Martyn, engineers wins Best Engineered Album, Classical for Winter Morning Walks.
When I wrote the second work, the Winter Morning Walks piece for Dawn, I really wanted to write something that had improvisation — but I wanted it to interface with what we might call “classical.” I wanted it to interface in a way that the lines were really blurred between the two, where you don’t even really know what to categorize the music as.

Del McCoury Band wins Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album for The Streets of Baltimore.
It was a very proud moment for Del and all of us but he turned 75 years old this year and really this album was more Del than any other album we recorded with him. Most of the time we all have songs that we bring, we still all had a hand in but this album was mostly Del. He wrote all the songs and he had it all figured it out of how he wanted to work on it.

Kathy Griffins wins Grammy for Best Comedy Album for Calm Down Gurrl.
The title came to me just looking at everything going on this year — all kinds of nonsense in the news and political weirdness and celebrities not being able to control themselves. I found myself hollering back at my TV, “Calm down, gurrl,” whether it was to a government official or a celebrity, male or female, young or old. “Calm down” is actually a terrible thing to say to us women when we’re upset.
