Discusses 11.22.63 with Variety
Abrams speaks to Variety about his upcoming Hulu series, 11.22.63. The series is a screen adaptation of the Stephen King novel and stars James Franco, Josh Duhamel, T. R. Knight, and Chris Cooper. While some changes have been made from King’s original novel, Abrams says that the changes have been approved by the author.
They were necessary and he saw that.
Missing Skywalker ‘no accident’
In a red-carpet interview, Abrams says Luke Skywalker’s non-appearance in the trailers and poster is deliberate.
These are good questions to be asking. I can’t wait for you to find out the answers. It’s no accident…We were all thrilled that the trailer was seen and embraced, especially [from] people who were saying that they’re not even fans of Star Wars, but they’re interested in seeing this thing now. It’s a testament to all the amazing work that this cast and crew have done.
Tavis Smiley interview
Abrams discusses his new project, an interactive novel entitled S, in which two readers leave notes for each other in the margins in this interview for PBS.
So what occurred to me was what would happen if someone found a book and there was a bunch of writing in it, and the person read some of the book and read some of the notes and, almost as a joke, wrote some notes in response, and then left the book back for the person. What if that person who originally wrote the notes found the book, saw those notes, and actually left a thing? What if a relationship began between two people through a book? What if a book became a means to communicate?
J.J. Abrams interview
Abrams returns as a guest on Conan to promote his film Star Trek Into Darkness. He also talks about a deleted scene featuring a showering Benedict Cumberbatch and promises O’Brien that he will include the expression “jub-jub” in the next Star Wars movie.
It’s like the “in” joke thing with people who I work, hiding, R2-D2 is hidden in the movie. A beverage called Slusho, all of these stupid little things, if you care to look for it, you’ll find them.
